Rooted in Nature
Functional mushrooms contain naturally occurring compounds that are being studied. Research is promising in some areas, but findings vary by species, preparation, dose and population. Traditional use, laboratory findings and early human studies are not the same as established clinical evidence. Supplements are not a substitute for medical care.

Mushroom Basics

Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane is traditionally used in some cultures in food and wellness practices. Areas under study include cognitive function and mood, but evidence is still emerging and varies by product and population. Traditional use and early research do not guarantee specific outcomes.

Reishi
Reishi has a history of use in food and traditional wellness practices. Researchers are studying several of its naturally occurring compounds, but human evidence is limited and results vary by preparation and population.

Cordyceps
Cordyceps has a history of use in traditional wellness practices. Researchers are studying energy metabolism and exercise-related measures, but findings are mixed and product-specific.

Chaga
Chaga has a history of use in teas and traditional wellness practices. Laboratory research has examined naturally occurring compounds, but reliable human evidence remains limited.

Turkey Tail
Turkey Tail is traditionally used in some cultures in food and wellness practices. Areas under study include immune-related pathways and gut health, but evidence is still emerging and varies by product and population. Traditional use and early research do not guarantee specific outcomes.

Maitake
Maitake is traditionally used in some cultures in food and wellness practices. Areas under study include metabolic and immune-related pathways, but evidence is preliminary and varies by species, preparation and dose. Traditional use and early research do not guarantee specific outcomes.

Our family’s why
Myco Vita Wellness grew from our family’s own search for thoughtful, everyday wellness support. Our daughter is autistic and echolalic and uses gestalt language processing, and our son has ADHD. Alongside the children’s broader routines and professional supports, we chose to include mushroom wellness products. We personally observed encouraging changes, including meaningful progress in our daughter’s communication and positive changes in our son’s everyday wellbeing. Those experiences inspired us to learn more and create a place where other families can find clear, balanced information. Our experience is personal. It does not prove that mushroom products caused these changes, and it is not medical advice or a promise of similar results. Individual experiences vary, and wellness products do not replace professional medical care.

Traditional Use
Historical documentation of mushroom applications across diverse cultures, focusing on long-standing botanical knowledge and ancestral wisdom.

Laboratory Evidence
Scientific analysis of active compounds, cellular interactions, and biochemical pathways to understand molecular mechanisms of action.

Early Human Research
Initial clinical trials and small-scale studies that provide preliminary data on efficacy and safety in human populations.

Established Evidence
Larger, well-designed human studies can provide stronger evidence, but conclusions remain specific to the mushroom, preparation, dose and population studied.

Your Questions
What are functional mushrooms?
Functional mushrooms are non-psychedelic mushroom species used in food, traditional practices or supplements. The term does not mean they treat disease or replace medical care.
Are they psychedelic?
No. We use only non-psychedelic species like Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, Chaga, Turkey Tail and Maitake. Functional mushrooms are not psychedelic.
What is the quality standard?
As we prepare for launch, we will look for Canadian market authorization, including an NPN where required; transparent labels; clear sourcing and testing information; and product-specific authorized claims.
When will the store launch?
Launch timing is not yet announced. If you’d like updates, please join the launch list so we can email you when we’re ready.
Are they safe?
Safety varies by product and person. Talk with a qualified health professional before use, especially for children, pregnancy or breastfeeding, health conditions, allergies, or medications. In Canada, natural health products require an NPN where applicable, and authorized claims are product-specific.
